UKAS Committee Update
UKAS accreditation was granted to GBGB on March 23rd 2010.
GBGB’s UKAS Committee is an independent group chaired by the independent director Steve Winfield operating within Terms of Reference. Its objective is to oversee the accreditation project and monitor the certification and associated operating procedures of the GBGB on an on-going basis.
The EN45011 standard requires the existence of an impartial group - Clause 4.2 e) - with independent expertise that can review the activities of the Certification Body and safeguard its impartiality. The committee's make-up has satisfied UKAS inspection, so too its commitment to engage with a variety of stakeholders to inform and answer questions on the purpose and progress of the project and its role going forward.
The UKAS committee will continue to meet following the grant of accreditation and in July will be joined by a representative from DEFRA and the RCPA. Animal Welfare Groups will be represented at a future committee meeting.
The committee is focused on the round of surveillance visits by UKAS in September 2010, which involve a. GBGB will be subject to on-going surveillance by UKAS on a yearly basis before undergoing another full inspection in 2014.
