Adoremus Wins Vase For Maxine

Tuna Crunch 20/1 was quickest in to stride and she had a ding dong battle up front with Any Dak 4/1. It was Hazel Kemp's former East-Anglian Derby winner who forged ahead at the third-bend. Any Dak had come in for support throughout the day being backed in from 6/1 in to 4/1 and his supporters found their voice. Trouble in behind for Airport Captain the 1/1 favourite put pay to his chances and the only challenger left was Adoremus.

Maxine Locke's brindle rose to the challenge and powered up the home straight to pull away from the field in the style of a true champion. The race saw Tuna Crunch and Ballymac Aalto pick up injuries and sadly they did not finish the race. Our thoughts are with the dogs and connections.

Adoremus though was a worthy winner and he rightly joins the roll of honour list alongside some of the sports greats; like 1971 winner Dolores Rocket, 1985 Ballyreagan Bob, 2006 and 2007 champion Eye Onthe Veto. He is just coming in to the peak of his powers being a July 2012 whelp and you would not back against him improving even further in the coming weeks.

Maxine is a real lady and showed great sportsmanship

'You've got to be in it to win it, it's great to win and so pleased for the owners 'The Bonville Boys' but you don't want to win like that. My thoughts are with Tuna Crunch and Ballymac Aalto. Going forward I think we will have a crack at the Coronation Cup at Romford in January and then perhaps Ladbrokes Golden Jacket over 714m at Crayford in February. He was not an expensive dog and I honestly think we will have a lot of fun with him in 2015.'

Airport Captain is a wonderful greyhound but had no luck on the night, he will be back and will be a force in major competitions again next year. Teejayspowerhawk is interesting and I don't think we've heard the last of him. Any Dak now a veteran is a real credit to Hazel Kemp, he's already started his stud career and early reports are most encouraging.

Adageo Is Worth A Bob Or Two

Adageo Bob sadly missed the semi-finals of the Essex Vase due to being stuck in traffic. He ran on the supporting card tonight and equalled the track-record in 34.67 +20. He will look to take on Adoremus in the Coronation Cup in January and that promises to be some competition.
