The 2015 RPGTV Henlow Derby worth £10,000 to-the-winner was won in dramatic fashion by the 2015 Derby finalist Making Paper trained by Diane Henry. The powerful 36 kilo son of Hondo Black now joins an illustrious list of past winners. You only have to look at the last three winners; Taylors Sky, Loughteen Blanco and Southern Mesut to realise this is one of the best competitions in the calendar.

Express Master exploded from the boxes and nearly made every metre a winning one. Making Paper suffered crowding on the run up and looked to have plenty to do if he was going to lift the crown. Charity Buster was the first to challenge Express Master but the latter railed superbly and saw off that challenge. The writing looked on the wall for Express Master when favourite Fire Height Tosh ranged up at the third-bend but incredibly he saw him off too. Making Paper is tough, genuine and extremely powerful over these trips and he started to fly from the third-bend and swept around the outside on the run for home to get up in a thrilling finish to win by 1L in 27.56 -10. Making Paper will rightly grab the headlines but spare a thought for Express Master who delivered an outstanding performance on the night but he was denied by a special greyhound who delivered a sensational run.

Fire Height Tosh is a greyhound with big ability and looks to have a bright future. You'd not be surprised to see him land a major competition in the coming months and I'm sure connections will have one eye already on next year's £250,000 to-the-winner Derby. Loughteen Eoin had to settle for 4th here and you have to feel for his connections, two category one finals and both times he's drawn the black jacket. This greyhound is very underrated and with a bit of luck on trap-draws he is most definitely a player. 5th Forest Sara will no doubt head to the Oaks at Belle Vue and give a good account of herself. 6th Charity Buster is another very good greyhound and better nights will surely be just around the corner for this talented performer.

Diane Henry On Making Paper

“He was done at the boxes and was forced to check a few times and he looked like he had it all to do. You can't give these great greyhounds a start over 460m but last night he delivered an amazing run and left me gobsmacked. He is such a clever greyhound and this was so special from him. He's now got the big title he deserves and I'm so pleased for him. He gave it everything last night to win this and I am so proud of him.

We made the Derby final and that took so much out of me personally, it's took me ages to recover the nerves and excitement really got to me. It's my dream and to come so close was very special but the emotions left me very tired. Nights like this to win this great competition make it all worth it and we will now head to the Eclipse.

After the Eclipse win, lose or draw he will be put away for the winter and we will target the Derby and see if we can win it. I'm so excited about Making Paper; he is filling out and getting stronger and I honestly think there is more to come from him. We have found the key to stop him cramping and if he banged out the boxes every time he would be almost unbeatable. We have to face it that consistency at the boxes is a chink in his armour and we just roll with it. He is a real competition dog and it's very hard to get him out of the qualifying spots”.
