Super Super Kev, Super Super Kev, Super Kevin Hutton!

The Chelsea Glass GTA Trainers' Championship was won in dramatic fashion by Kevin Hutton, not only does he bank the £7,500 winners prize but he delivered a performance that will stay in the memory banks forever. This was Kevin Hutton's debut in the championship but he left his mark on it forever. While reading this report may I suggest you have the theme tune to 'The Great Escape' playing in the background.

In all my time in greyhound racing I can't ever remember seeing scenes like those that unfolded at Sittingbourne and it was a truly remarkable advert for the sport of greyhound racing. It's hard to make comparisons but this performance must rank right up there with the best in history;

Greatest Sporting Comebacks

1981 The 'Botham's Ashes' England 500/1 midway through their second innings but Ian 'Beefy' Botham defied the 500/1 odds and pushed England on to victory.

2005 Liverpool in the Champions League final went in at half-time 3-0 down against the might of AC Milan but roared on to take the final on penalties.

1973 Red Rum came from 30L behind to beat Crisp on the line in a dramatic finish to capture the hearts of a nation.

2015 Kevin Hutton sitting in last place at the half-way stage of the Greyhound Trainers' Championship. He went on to win four races on the bounce to beat Mark Wallis and send the crowd and greyhound fans worldwide into uproar.

Kevin Hutton On Winning The Championship

'First of all I'd like to say a huge thank you to Mark Wallis he was the first to come over and congratulate us, it says so much about the man, he is gracious in defeat and victory. Mark Wallis is a fantastic trainer and someone I have the upmost respect for, it meant so much to me for him to do that.

At the half-way stage we looked dead and buried it looked very much like Mark Wallis was going to win it. Forest Sara ran a superb race I thought she was fantastic but even after her win with three races left I did not think we could do it. Victory from Jolly Redeye in the next was a good feeling I just thought well we have done well but with Vanrooney to run for Mark Wallis I still did not believe the impossible was possible. Then Swansalona Diva won and I thought wow this is going to be closer than people think. I was not keeping score and people kept asking me where did we stand. We had drawn level and it was a one race shoot-out; El Pedro rocketed out and I knew then we had won. I was trying to shout him on but nothing was coming out.

It was unbelievable we made the Derby final and won the Oaks but this night eclipses everything. I've never known a buzz like it and I just can't believe it. I'd like to thank everyone for their support and everyone connected with the kennel'.

Your fan club will surely swell now Kevin and people will want me to ask you about the upcoming Derby. What is your best chance of winning the Derby?

'Face The Blade, don't write him off I think this greyhound can be sensational if he keeps improving the way we hope. We have some good dogs to come back but I honestly think Face The Blade is a dog to get excited about and people should definitely follow him'.

This was a magnificent performance by Forest Sara who showed terrific early-gears to make the corner in front. 'Absolutely fantastic you always hoped it would go to the last leg and it did. It was like a Derby Final the atmosphere was fantastic. I'd like to thank Roger Cearns of Sittingbourne and Ricky Holloway of the GTA and announce it was that good we will sponsor it again next year. Well done Kevin Hutton and all the trainers involved'.
