Calne Racing Arc - Swindon 480m (£8,000)

All eyes where on the defending champion King Dec in the traps but at trap rise the focus quickly switched to Evanta Evita who took a flier. You often create your own luck in this sport and Evanta Evita along with Kippers Usain did exactly that by showing superior early-pace. It was left to them to fight it out for victory. Kippers Usain ran well but he could not reel in the classy Evanta Evita who won the race by 3.5L in 28.60.

The second semi-final was a great spectacle; the early-pace of Loughteen Eoin versus the staying power of Bubbly Gold. Early-pace won the day just with Loughteen Eoin taking it by a very fast diminishing short-head in 28.72. Droopys Jarrow was finishing like a train but missed out on qualification in third.

Dean Childs will have had a spring in his step after he saw his Millwards Whitey take the third semi-final. It was not looking good in the early stages but he defied first and second-bend crowding to take the race with a brilliant surge of middle-pace to hit the front at the third-bend. He went on to win by 1L with Calco Flyer in 2nd in 29.00.
