Racing Post Greyhound TV Scottish Derby - Shawfield 480m (£20,000)

Pat Rosney realised a dream at Shawfield by winning the Scottish Derby and he is now a Derby winning trainer after his Swift Hoffman put in a sensational display to win the 2015 RPGTV Scottish Derby worth a whopping £20,000 to-the-winner and returns to Lancashire a hero.

It was a thrilling final and the connections of Swift Hoffman must have gone through a roller coaster of emotions within the blink of an eye. He never came away like he can and on the run to the corner he looked like he had plenty to do with Save The Don out in front and the talented Lenson Sanchez off in hot pursuit. Sanchez hit first-bend trouble and it was Coolavanny Jap who was off after Save The Don. Swift Hoffman was hitting top gear and showed electric middle-pace and was on the scene to capitalise when Save The Don and Coolavanny Jap did each other no favours at the third-bend. Once he hit the front it was all over, Swift Hoffman would win the Derby and the loot was heading to Lancashire. It was a one-two for the Red Rose County with Pat Rosney's Mother-In-Law June McCombe's bitch Cashen Maureen finishing second by 3.25L in 28.98 +30.

Pat Rosney knows what it feels like to lose a Scottish Derby final having finished runner-up with Bomber Graham and sixth with Breeze Hill Juli but now thanks to Swift Hoffman he knows what it feels like to win a Scottish Derby.

A Jubilant Pat Rosney on Swift Hoffman

'I've dreamed of winning races like this and to do it is an amazing feeling. I know it's like a cliche but what else can you say I'm delighted. We got criticism for not running in the Trainers' Championship but if we had of done then I don't think I'd be speaking to you now after winning the Scottish Derby. We have our own way of doing things, it's not everybody’s way but it's our way and it works for us. I like dogs like Swift Hoffman to trial and run in competitions, the preparation is long but our aim is to win big competitions like this for our owners. I enjoy competitions with the rounds and trying to qualify, everything here is all about trying to win big competitions rather than one off races. Swift Hoffman will now have a break and then we will focus entirely on Wimbledon and the Derby. Wimbledon will suit him but we need some luck in trap-draws, it will be harder to get his box at Wimbledon than it was here at Shawfield. It will be amazing to go to Wimbledon having won the Scottish Derby and we will give it our all in trying to win £250,000 to-the-winner Derby'.

It turned out to be a night Pat Rosney will never forget and earlier on the card he had sent out Vatican Gurkha to victory in the RPGTV Puppy Final worth £2,000 to-the-winner. He rocketed from the traps to make every metre a winning one and went on to score impressively by 4 lengths over Skywalker Jaypee in 29.13 +30.

Scottish based trainer Pat Flaherty was also celebrating after his bitch Greenwell Ace won the £2,000 winners prize in the RPGTV 500 final. She cut out the running and although the pack was closing which was headed by Nadurra Tar her brilliant early won the day by 1.25 lengths in 30.14 +30.
