Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic - Monmore 630m (£7,500)

The best stayers in the country lined up at Monmore Green for the heats of the Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic in a bid to land the fantastic £7,500 first prize. Round-one was eagerly anticipated especially the re-match between Regency first and second Touch Tackle and Millwards Teddy. Touch Tackle the Regency champion had to play second fiddle here to Millwards Teddy who ran out an impressive winner with 1.5L separating them at the line in 38.26 -20.

It was the Regency 4th Swansalona Diva who would grab the headlines in round-one. Kevin Hutton's British Bred put in a sparking display of pace and power to win very impressively by 2.5L over Bubbly Gold in the fastest time of the day 38.00 -20. Diva rocketed out clocking a 12.70 sectional and in this kind of form she is going to be the one they've all to beat. This daughter of College Causeway clearly likes Monmore Green and you could not have been more impressed with her first look at the Wolverhampton circuit.

Jaytee Osprey (38.33 -20), Moss Lane Sue (38.39 -20), Droopys Gonza (38.43 -30) and Westmead Lola (39.10 -50) completed the list of heat winners.

Kevin Hutton On Swansalona Diva

'She needed a break so we went to Monmore without a trial and she ran it ever so well. She's a proper handy bitch and can run most tracks which is a good trait to have. She did everything right, to be fair probably had the best of the going but like I said she did ieverything we had hoped. I was a bit worried with the slow-track but she's come out of the race well. I'm looking forward to the semi-finals and you always have a chance with a bitch of her quality'.
