BELLMORE SALLY, trained by Jimmy Fenwick for Neil McGregor, was recently named the RPGTV/GWA Greyhound of the Month winner for February after successfully defending her Premier Greyhound Racing Golden Jacket title at Crayford last month.

Repeating the same feat as in 2022 after winning the Crayford showpiece for the first time, Bellmore Sally was voted for by members of the Greyhound Writers’ Association and claimed the honour ahead of Antigua Sugar (Mark Wallis), Links Maverick (Tom Heilbron) and Shockwave Amber (Kim Gooding).

Bellmore Sally, a December 2019 daughter of Droopys Sydney and Bellmore Lucy, became just the third greyhound to successfully defend her Golden Jacket title and will return to the Kent venue next month for a tilt at the Ladbrokes TV Trophy.

Clive Lawrence, executive producer at award sponsors RPGTV, said: “Well done to Jimmy (Fenwick) and Neil (McGregor) – and Sally, of course.

“To win two Golden Jackets really is some feat and she joins Bobs Regan and Wexford Minx as two-time winners of the event, so has her slice of history on that famous roll of honour board upstairs at Crayford.

“Bellmore Sally is a real favourite of RPGTV viewers who’ve enjoyed watching her on our popular Saturday morning programmes.”

Danny Rayment, Crayford racing manager, also paid his own tribute to the Newcastle-trained tracker.

“She’s an absolute star round here – and is clearly a great traveller! Jimmy and Melanie (Fenwick) rack up the miles when they come to Crayford but it clearly doesn’t bother her – and we look forward to Bellmore Sally running in the TV Trophy here.

“However, to win back-to-back Golden Jackets really is something special and puts her in very special company. There’s been talk she might aim for a third Golden Jacket which would be something else, albeit that’s a way off.

“We enjoy our Saturday morning open-race cards and Bellmore Sally and the Fenwicks were very much part of our Saturdays in February. Well done to them.”
