FABULOUS TERRA made it five out of five in her short career with victory in the third semi-final of the Bet365 Puppy Oaks at Towcester on Sunday – again posting the fastest time in the process as David Mullins’ British-bred ultimately dominated proceedings in the 500m contest.

Out-trapped by Crafty Pardiso (Colin Wilton), a burst of early pace nevertheless took the February 2022 daughter of Droopys Sydney and Fabulous Skylar to the front and on her way to a three and a quarter lengths success over the Nottingham raider in 29.37sec (-20), the pair making it through to Sunday’s £10,000 decider.

La Gitana initiated a double for Patrick Janssens in the first semi-final as the March 2022 daughter of Good News and Coolavanny Chick blasted to a fastest-of-session 4.04sec split before racing away for a four and a quarter lengths win over the running-on Doohoma Roxie (Seamus Gaughan) in 29.53sec (-20).

Kennelmaste Deelish Nora then completed a Janssens semi-final double as the July 2022 daughter of Droopys Sydney and Ballymac Orna, the youngest runner in the field, was also quickly into stride and came home two lengths clear of Queen Dusty (Liz McNair) in 29.50sec (-20).

Winning trainer Patrick Janssens said: “I’m delighted with both pups. They’re the two youngest in the final and has great pace – I’m just disappointed they’ve ended up next to each other and wider than we wanted. Saying that, both have the early pace to given themselves every chance if they break.

“Nora’s owned by Jack Shannon, David Croft, Charlie Johnson and John Porter, while La Gitana is owned by Roy Ball and Trevor Pearson. Actually John, Roy and Trevor all have a share of [Coolavanny] Shado and we’re all more than hopeful both bitches are above average. They’ve certainly started well.

“Nora is out of a Ballymac bitch (Ballymac Orna) and La Gitana is out of Coolavanny Chick who ran third in the Derby here at Nottingham a few years back for Noel (Hehir).”
