Full Time Sampling Steward – North/Northeast
The GBGB is currently looking for a full time Sampling Steward to cover seven racecourses in the Northeast region.
Reporting to the Senior Stipendiary Steward, the main purpose of this job is to attend race and trial meetings to collect urine samples from greyhounds and to oversee the collection of other samples, in accordance with the GBGB Rules of Racing.
You will be responsible for bringing issues connected with sampling or otherwise to the attention of the GBGB and there may also be a requirement to attend and give evidence before Disciplinary Committee hearings.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a very high standard of professional integrity and understand the requirements of handling confidential and sensitive information. You will also be flexible and be prepared to work unsocial hours and have proven work experience in a customer focussed role.
In addition to the above requirements candidates must also possess excellent planning, organisation, and communication skills.
Knowledge of animal welfare legislation and being at ease around animals would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite. Full training will be provided.
The role will include a very high volume of driving and candidates must hold a current valid and clean driving licence. A company vehicle will be provided.
As the racecourses covered by this role are in the Northeast region. Candidates are therefore required to live in this area and will ideally be located close to the M1/A1(M).
