GBGB has confirmed that the Open Race Planning Committee has approved a proposal from Towcester Racecourse to further revise the dates for the 2021 English Greyhound Derby to avoid a clash with the British Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone on 16th-18th July.

The 2021 Derby dates will now be as follows:

First round: Fri 4th and Sat 5th June

Second round: Fri 11th and Sat 12th June

Third round: Sat 19th June

Quarter Finals: Sat 26th June

Semi Finals: Sat 3rd July

Final: Sat 10th July

GBGB MD and Chair of the Open Race Planning Committee Mark Bird said:

“The GBGB received a request from Towcester to further amend their dates and the committee have been as flexible as possible, as it is vital that the sport’s premier event is as successful as it possibly can be. These will be treated as the confirmed dates for the Derby and we will now move our focus to the remainder of the calendar which needs to be scheduled for the benefit of trainers, owners and stadia.
