GBGB Awards – Best Dam of British Bred
SKATE ON is the GBGB Best Dam of British Bred 2018 – for the second year running.
The 2012 William Hill Oaks runner-up and star sprinter for Liz and Rab McNair on the track has proved one of the outstanding dams of the modern era and a real boost for her owners the K.S.S. Syndicate. Her offspring amassed 328 points last year – more than 2017.
Along with this year’s runner-up Wee Tiger Tots, also trained by the McNairs and another successful ‘K.S.S.’ brood, Skate On has helped create a real British breeding dynasty at the husband and wife team’s Ashford, Kent base.
King Elvis, last year’s Greyhound of the Year, was again Skate On’s best points-scoring offspring in 2018 after another successful year. He was joined by littermates Queen Anna and Queen Adele, all from the October 2015 batch by Tullymurry Act.
However, her subsequent February 2017 litter by the McNairs’ former track star Eden The Kid have made real waves on the open-race scene, the fantastically-talented bunch led by Queen Beyonce, King Nelson, King Dylan and King Sheeran.
Wee Tiger Tots (299 points) finished second to Skate On in the rankings with four-time Category One winner King Turbo her highest points scorer in a category dominated by the McNairs and the K.S.S. Syndicate in recent years – their Shaws Dilemma won in 2016.
