GBGB Confirms Disqualification of 2023 English Oaks Winner
The Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) has today confirmed the disqualification of the 2023 English Oaks Winner, NO RUSH, after a positive sample.
The final of the Premier Greyhound Racing Oaks, Perry Barr, 480m, took place on Saturday 28th October. As per GBGB’s strict anti-doping policy, a sample was collected from NO RUSH on the evening of the event and subsequently confirmed positive by specialist testing facility LGC.
Confirming the news, a spokesperson for GBGB said:
“Following the positive sample of NO RUSH on Saturday 28th October, as per Rule 173(ii), we can confirm that the greyhound has been disqualified from the 2023 English Oaks and that prize money and competition points are forfeited.
“The winner’s title and relevant prizes will now automatically transfer to the runner-up of the competition, JET STREAM ANGEL.
“Whilst these instances are rare, we maintain a strict anti-doping policy and will be following the appropriate disciplinary processes in this instance.
“The investigation is ongoing, pending a disciplinary hearing. The owner, trainer and stadium in question have been notified.”
