Following two high quality renewals of the long-distance classic with finals featuring the stars of an invigorated marathon scene, the GBGB expresses its thanks to sponsors Ladbrokes and Coral and to both Crayford and Romford for staging the 2018 and 2019 TV Trophies and creating a fantastic buzz and interest around one of the feature events of the year.

GBGB now invites interested tracks to submit bids as follows:

  1. To stage the 2020 TV Trophy
  2. To stage the 2021 TV Trophy

As the premier marathon distance competition in the Calendar, GBGB wishes the TV Trophy to be maintained as a Category One event (minimum £12,500 all heats and final prize money inclusive).

Tracks bidding must be able to guarantee a sponsor for the event.

Tracks should detail what coverage can be obtained for the event.

The competition should be for 18 greyhounds (reduced to 12 if necessary, where entries are insufficient).

The competition must be run over two rounds within 9 days and must be over at least eight bends.

Dates

GBGB are looking for both the 2020 and 2021 staging of the event to be held in or close to the first two weeks of August.

Bids must be submitted to GBGB by 11am Friday 25th October.

An industry panel will consider bids and a decision will be made in late October 2019.  The 2020 TV Trophy and dates will then form part of the planning process and subsequent schedule for major competitions for 2020 (published in late 2019) and 2021 (published in late 2020).

Tracks are asked to make a bid for each year separately.

Where possible the GBGB aim to see the TV Trophy moving around the country, providing opportunities for a variety of owners, trainers and greyhounds.

Detailed bids, including proposed dates and prize money should be sent to Racing Committee Secretary Amanda Duplock (amanda.duplock@gbgb.org.uk) by 11am Friday 25th October.
