A spokesperson for GBGB has said:

“GBGB is aware of the ongoing delays to earmarking of British-bred greyhound litters, and fully appreciates the concerns of breeders, owners and trainers who have been affected by this. GBGB is working closely with the National Coursing Club, who currently have oversight of the Greyhound Studbook, to resolve this issue at the earliest opportunity.

“At the same time, we are considering different methods of identification for greyhounds whose earmarking has been delayed, in addition to the compulsory microchipping of all greyhounds. GBGB is working with Defra to ensure continued compliance with the Welfare of Racing Greyhound Regulations and to maintain the highest standards of welfare for all British-bred greyhounds.

“We are grateful to all affected breeders, owners and trainers for their patience whilst this matter is resolved. We hope to update them on a resolution as soon as possible.”
