TOWCESTER is preparing for a huge Sunday with the Time Greyhound Nutrition Juvenile Championship and BetGoodwin and JR Racing Maiden Derby Final on the same card – and Jason Heath is delighted to be a major part of it on a busy weekend ahead for the Hove trainer.

In addition to runners at his home track, Heath’s kennel is represented by Beloved Brenda and Burrows Eclipse in the bet365 Hunt Cup Final at Oxford on Saturday and Burrows Charm in the J R Racing Maiden Derby Final at Towcester – and the September 2022 son of Vulturi and Seomra Oreo heads into the £10,000-to-the-winner decider as the fastest semi-final winner after a brilliant performance last week.

Lining up in the first semi-final, Burrows Charm was quick to stride and, off the back of a 4.03sec sectional, was always bossing proceedings on his way to a three and a quarter lengths success over Indian Bonnie (Maxine Locke) in a slick 28.82sec (+10), the pair both making it through to Sunday’s 500m decider which shares the stage with a high-class Time Greyhound Nutrition Juvenile Championship.

Heath was delighted with the performance and thrilled to be part of a top-quality afternoon’s racing at the Northamptonshire venue – just 24 hours after his runners line up in another Category One final at Oxford.

Of Burrows Charm, he said: “We left Burrows Charm off for most of the winter with the Maiden Derby always our aim.

“He was a good dog in Ireland for Pat Buckley so we knew what we had.

“I originally had him down as a strong-running dog so the early pace he’s been showing from day one has surprised me.

“The Towcester final has top-class dogs and trainers in it as you’d expect and we’ll all enjoy the day, win or lose. His owners, Terry and Elise Burrows, are great supporters of our kennel and deserve some luck.”

Ireland will be well represented in Sunday’s BetGoodwin and JR Racing Maiden Derby Final after Irish-trained runners won the other semi-finals.

Paul Hennessy is looking for back-to-back wins in the event after Jaytee Etienne’s success last year and sent out Hello Diego to win the second semi-final, the October 2022 son of Jaytee Yankee and Darver Bridie coming home two and a half lengths clear of Ballybough Nutz (Maxine Locke) in 29.05sec (+10).

Like Romford trainer Maxine Locke, last year’s winning kennel will have two runners in the final after Hennessy’s Lennies Desire overcame crowding early to finish well for second, crossing the line six and a half lengths behind Graham Holland’s runaway winner Val Tashadelek.

The winner, an October 2022 son of Dorotas Wildcat and Tic Tock Lizzy, stopped the clock in 29.07sec (-10).

Trap draw for Sunday’s R Racing Maiden Derby Final: 1 Lennies Desire, 2 Ballybough Nutz, 3 Burrows Charm, 4  Val Tashadelek, 5 Hello Diego (m), 6 Indian Bonnie (m).

Trap draw for the Time Greyhound Nutrition Juvenile Championship: 1 Boylesports Blue, 2 Wicky Ned, 3 Droopys Plunge, 4 Proper Heiress, 5. March On Freddie (w), 6 Bockos Diamond (w).
