July 2022 GWA/RPGTV Greyhound of the Month – Ninja Kerry & Troy Suzieeq
THERE were joint winners of the RPGTV/GWA Greyhound of the Month for July as Ninja Kerry and Troy Suzieeq shared the honours.
The pair respectively won the Coral Sussex Cup and Premier Greyhound Racing Regency titles at Hove and received the same number of votes from a Greyhound Writers’ Association panel.
Clive Lawrence, executive producer at award sponsors RPGTV, said: “Well done to both Belinda Green and David Mullins and connections of Ninja Kerry and Troy Suzieeq. Belinda’s kennel is in a rich vein of form and Ninja Kerry produced the goods on the night in the Sussex Cup.
“It was the same for Troy Suzieeq and the Mullins team in the Regency final – she was brilliantly game in holding off some serious rivals to score a big-priced but deserved win and we wish her a speedy recovery following a subsequent setback.”
Daniel Rankin, senior racing manager for Hove and Romford, added his own tribute to the feat of both greyhounds after their success at the Sussex venue.
“That’s fantastic news,” he said. “The Sussex Cup and Regency are our two biggest events and it’s great they’ve been given the recognition in this way with the awards going to both Ninja Kerry and Troy Suzieeq.
“Finals night really was a tremendous affair and is everything we’re trying to do here around the two competitions and supporting events to try and give the meeting a real festival feel.
“It makes for a big Saturday night meeting here for our customers and for the owners and trainers involved it makes it a special occasion – especially if they happened to be represented in other events, too.
“The Wingspares Festival was long before my time here at Hove but many at the track have fond memories of it – and hopefully what we achieved across the Premier Greyhound Racing Regency and Coral Sussex Cup this year helped matched that feel.”
In winning the monthly honour, Ninja Kerry and Troy Suzieeq edged out the other nominations in July which were Crystal Alice (Ben Reynolds), Havana Class (Liz McNair) and Makeit For Waz (Frank Gray).
