MISS BOLEY continues to prove a real star for connections and, according to Romford trainer Philip Simmonds, is carrying the honour of GWA/RPGTV Greyhound of the Month for May “extremely well”.

“She’s a real star and has won again, so her good form has continued into July!” said Simmonds, who oversaw a prolific campaign in May which saw the October 2015 daughter of Premier Fantasy and Boley Lass win four of her five starts.

Eliminated from the heats of the JPW Trophy at Nottingham, a two-run event supporting the Star Sports, Arc and LPS Greyhound Derby, Miss Boley (pictured below, t1) was back in the winner’s enclosure at Romford on Friday.

Lining up in a heat of the Friday Night 500 Standard at the Coral venue, the three-year-old made all the running when scoring in 24.13sec (+10) for the 400m to register her 19th victory in 67 starts.

“She’s owned by the English Garden Tea Syndicate, who are based in the Romford area, and are great supporters of us and their local track,” said Simmonds. “Boley really is doing them proud.”

Nathan Hunt, GBGB Kennelhand of the Year and assistant to Simmonds, added: “She’s been a fantastic bitch for the kennel right from the start – remember she reached the Romford Puppy Cup Final in 2017.

“She was very draw-dependant for most of her career – and was desperate for red. She lost her confidence at the first bend for a while, but then we gave her a couple of weeks off after which she had a run of terrible traps draws – T3, T4 and T5.

“But she soon sussed it out and started flying out from any trap she was put in. She’s a very game bitch and, being a winner over 575m as well, is very difficult to hold off given a run over 400m.

“She’s a daughter of Premier Fantasy and comes from a very good litter. We’ve been waiting a while for her to break in season to have a litter from her at the kennels, but she’s still in winning form as you saw on Friday.”

Simmonds added: “She goes in the final this coming Friday, then it’ll just be a case of keeping her ticking over at Romford where she loves her racing. She’s been a fantastic bitch for us and given her owners a great ride.

“We look forward to seeing some little Boleys running around the kennels here in the future!”
