National Greyhound Week Back for a Third Year
There are just four weeks to go until National Greyhound Week (NGW) returns for the third year running. NGW, which has become a permanent fixture in the licensed greyhound racing calendar, will see tracks up and down the country host a range of special events.
Running from Monday 25th to Sunday 31st August 2025, NGW will showcase the very best of British licensed greyhound racing and will seek to attract both existing and new audiences. During the week, there will be a number of activities aimed at families highlighting how a visit to the track can be enjoyed by people of all ages and from all walks of life.
With a theme of ‘Meet Our Sporting Legends’, visitors to tracks will have the opportunity to meet some of the sport’s canine athletes. This builds on the theme of GBGB’s recent successful homing campaign ‘Share your Life with a Greyhound’ which featured sporting legend Joe Marler. Homing centres will be in attendance at their local tracks giving visitors the chance to meet former racing legends and to find out more about the benefits of homing a retired racer.
Each track will be participating in its own way, from staging special NGW races, to offering free stadium entry and organising Family Fun Days.
Throughout the week, GBGB will be taking its NGW Roadshow to a number of tracks speaking to spectators about the sport. GBGB’s Regional Regulatory Vets will also be attending and will be able to answer any questions about greyhound welfare and retirement.
Speaking about the week, GBGB Commercial Director Mark Moisley said:
“It’s fantastic to see National Greyhound Week return for a third year. The last two years were very successful with some tracks recording record attendances for the time of year.
“National Greyhound Week is all about reaching out to new audiences and showing what a brilliant sport greyhound racing is. It’s great to see so many tracks embrace this opportunity and there are some excellent events being planned.
“The team from GBGB is also looking forward to attending as many events as possible over the course of the week. We have got some fun merchandise to give away and will be around to answer any questions spectators may have about our sport.
“Thank you to all licensed stadia for your support of National Greyhound Week. I’d encourage everyone to check out what their local track is doing and join with their local community to enjoy all that our sport has to offer.”
