The Greyhound Board of Great Britain’s (GBGB) Greyhound of the Year Awards 2021 will be held at the Royal Lancaster in London on the evening of Sunday 15th May.

As well as celebrating the achievements of the sport’s canine athletes, the night is the industry’s annual opportunity to commend the hard work and commitment of the many talented individuals throughout the sport. GBGB is pleased, therefore, to open the nominations for the ‘Kennelhand of the Year’ award.

This award honours one exceptional kennel hand for the work and care they provide to their greyhounds. Anyone involved in the industry can nominate a kennelhand who they believe has shown tremendous dedication, and who always goes that extra mile.

The winner will receive £500, two tickets to the event and accommodation at the Royal Lancaster London and the prestigious Kennelhand of the Year trophy.

If you know someone who deserves this award – email your nomination to awards@gbgb.org.uk with the subject line ‘Kennelhand of the Year 2021’. Nominations should include a brief description of why you think the individual is a deserving recipient, their name, along with your own contact details.

Nominations must be received by Sunday 10th April 2022.

Mark Bird, Managing Director of GBGB said:

“We are delighted to once again open nominations for this all-important award. Kennelhands are the unsung heroes of our sport. They provide outstanding levels of care to our athletes day in, day out, often working long, unsociable hours in the process. This award is our opportunity to thank them all for their commitment to our greyhounds and to celebrate an individual who has gone above and beyond during the past year”

Tickets are now on sale – to purchase, please call GBGB on 020 7822 0902. Tickets are priced at £110 each, which includes a drinks reception, a three-course meal with wine and entertainment until late. GBGB is offering a reduced rate for bookings of full tables of ten for £990.
