Romford Greyhound Stadium Crowned Track of the Year
Romford Greyhound Stadium was honoured at the annual Greyhound Board of Great Britain Awards last week, being crowned GBGB’s first ever Track of the Year. Introduced as part of GBGB’s greyhound racing centenary celebrations, the Award looks to celebrate the many achievements of the country’s most popular tracks in 2025.

Tracks were shortlisted for the Award based on over 1000 responses to a public voting form which allowed punters to nominate a track and score it based on a range of criteria – from race commentary to food and drink to track presentation.
Romford Greyhound Stadium emerged as the winner over the other four shortlisted tracks: Monmore Greyhound Stadium, Owlerton Stadium, Star Pelaw Greyhound Stadium and Yarmouth Greyhound Stadium. One of the most well attended tracks in Britain, Romford hosts a number of major competitions, including the Golden Sprint, Coronation Cup, Essex Vase and Champion Stakes.
Mark Moisley, Commercial Director of the Greyhound Board of Great Britain, said:
“Congratulations to Romford Greyhound Stadium, GBGB’s first-ever Track of the Year. We were delighted to see so many responses from race-goers who have enjoyed their visits to stadia across the country, but the feedback about Romford Stadium stood out from the rest for all that they offer for spectators.
“It takes a considerable amount of work to run a greyhound track, and the team behind Romford’s success has gone above and beyond to enhance the experience for their customers, whether through themed restaurant nights, excellent social media engagement or exciting fundraising days. We look forward to seeing what Romford and all our other tracks will be offering in 2026 as greyhound racing celebrates its centenary year in Britain.”
Karen McMillan, the track’s general manager added: “This feels like the ultimate for us to bring home for our entire team. It’s a seven-day-a-week job – we see each other more than our own families!”
Gary Bolton, stadia director at Entain, which owns Romford Greyhound Stadium said: “I’m chuffed to bits. All at Romford try so hard to deliver the best possible experience. It’s a proud moment for us all.”
