Stipendiary Steward vacancy, South East
The GBGB is currently looking to recruit a Stipendiary Steward to cover the South East. This will include Brighton & Hove, Central Park, Crayford and Romford Stadia and trainers in the South East region.
Reporting to the Senior Stipendiary Steward, duties will include:
- Upholding the GBGB’s Rules of Racing and related policies regarding the regulation and integrity of GBGB licensed greyhound racing and greyhound welfare.
- As a member of the Greyhound Regulatory Board (GRB) Disciplinary Authority, conduct and make findings at Local Inquiries in accordance with the GBGB Rules of Racing.
- Inspect and report on all premises licensed by GBGB.
- Undertake the annual inspection audit of racecourses, in line with GBGB’s UKAS-accredited scheme.
- Assessing and inspecting new training licence applications and premises.
- Working alongside GBGB Regional Regulatory Veterinarians to maintain the highest standards of greyhound welfare.
- To support the Trainers Assistance Committee in relation to improvement and development funding for residential kennels.
- Acting as the lead, or assisting, in investigations into serious rule breaches and providing supporting evidence as part of the disciplinary process.
- To exercise further duties as allocated by the Greyhound Regulatory Board.
You will need to have the ability to work well within a team, be confident and motivated, work well under pressure, and possess the ability to show initiative and a willingness to learn.
You must be able to demonstrate a very high standard of professional integrity and have proven experience working within the greyhound industry, either at a racecourse, as a trainer or assistant trainer. A strong interest and enthusiasm for greyhound racing and greyhound welfare is essential. Candidates who have worked in a regulatory background or have had experience working within a similar role will also be considered.
Familiarity with the Rules of Racing, auditing and inspection principles and conducting investigations would be a distinct advantage, although full training will be provided.
The position will largely involve lone working and therefore you must be able to work unsupervised and hold a clean and valid driving licence. This role will include a high volume of driving and it is therefore a condition of employment that you live in the South East region.
Starting Salary: £41k per annum (subject to review after 12 months) + benefits.
