BRINDLE BULLY played his part in an extraordinary weekend for the litter he came from with victory in the Coral Silver Standard Final at Romford.

The £5,000-to-the-winner Category Two played the chief supporting role to the Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes Final at the London Road venue, with Mark Wallis and Dave Mullins-trained runners starring on the card.

Wallis won the showpiece event with New Destiny among four winners on the night for the champion trainer, while Romford handler Mullins watched from his current base in Ireland as his runners landed a hat-trick – Brindle Bully in the Coral Silver Standard Final and Piemans Angel and Flynns Porter in supporting opens over 400m.

Over in Co. Tipperary with Brindle Bully’s litter brother March On Freddie for the duration of his BoyleSports Irish Derby campaign, Mullins was delighted to see the

September 2022 son of Dorotas Wildcat and Seaglass Shadow finish off his domination of the 400m event in the best possible style.

Having clocked a fastest-of-the-night 23.61sec in the semi-finals, a burst of pace into the bend secured a first bend lead in the final and he tore away to land the spoils from Droopys Bucko (Maxine Locke) and Avarua Zlatan (Richard Rees) by five lengths in 23.67sec (normal), another fast time for the one-lap trip.

Bred by Rachel Wheeler in Cashel, Co. Tipperary – March On Freddie’s base for his Shelbourne Park bid – Brindle Bully kick-started a brilliant 48 hours for the litter given March On Freddie and Bockos Diamond both won their heats of the Irish Derby, while Aero Pattika struck for Richie Taberner at Monmore on Saturday.

“They’re some bunch and we’re delighted to have two of them!” said Mullins. “Bully has really come forward. Friday was his sixth win on the spin and he’s maturing really nicely. He probably took time to come to himself, but is where we want him now and he deserves his chance in the (Arena Racing Company) Classic at Sunderland now.

“Friday looked a great night at Romford. Myself and Julie watched the Gone To The Dogs show from Ireland and we’ve got to thank Kelly, Josh, Mandy, Rhianne, Alex, Elise and Dave for all their hard work. Their roles are just as important whether at the track or the kennels and we couldn’t do what we do without them all.

“I’m also delighted for Bully’s owners – they’re a great bunch – and think they had a good and late night at Romford. They rightfully enjoyed the victory – you’ve got to!”
