LAUGHIL JESS aims to make it 20 wins in a row at Crayford on Saturday having recently been named RPGTV Greyhound of the Month for November.

The Dave and Dawn Lee-owned and trained star lifted a Category One title in the form of the Ladbrokes Gold Collar during the month and has continued her remarkable winning sequence over the Kent track’s 540m trip since.

The May 2021 daughter of Out Of Range ASB and Laughil Irene made it 17 consecutive wins over Crayford’s six bends in the Gold Collar final, achieved either side at a crack at the Premier Greyhound Racing Oaks at Perry Barr.

Her winning sequence came to an end in the second round at Perry Barr after heat success but her unbeaten record over Crayford’s 540m was maintained through all rounds of one of the sport’s traditional Classics.

Clive Lawrence, executive producer at award sponsors RPGTV, said: “In my opinion there could only have been one winner, so absolutely hats off to Laughil Jess and the Lee family.

“We all know how difficult it is for greyhounds to rack up sequences, so what Laughil Jess is doing is quite amazing – especially when you think she won a Cat One competition in between. That makes her very special indeed, so well done all.”

Crayford racing manager Danny Rayment added his own tribute, commenting: “Jess is very much the Queen of Crayford so throughly deserved the award. She is back here on Saturday in the final of the ladbrokes.com Christmas Guys & Dolls.

“She certainly made her supporters sweat in the heats before winning, but it was close. In usual circumstances in these competitions it’s about just qualifying but there’s understandably more noise around Laughil Jess now.

“I’m sure it will be the same come Saturday but Jess will again need to show her best and do things right in a good class field. In fact, good luck to all the finalists. We’re looking forward to another busy Saturday before we turn our attention to Boxing Day’s meeting which is always really popular here.”

In landing the RPGTV Greyhound of the Month award for November, voted for by members of the Greyhound Writers’ Association, Laughil Jess edged out RPGTV Puppy Derby winner King Memphis (Liz McNair), Arc Classic victor Jonny Whiskers (Harry Burton) and Premier Greyhound Racing Eclipse champion Newinn Syd (Mark Wallis).
