PROPER HEIRESS completed a magnificent weekend for Mark Wallis with victory in the Coral Olympic Final at Hove, his second victory in the famous event after Bruisers Bullet’s success in 2017.

After wins in two other Category One finals on the night – New Destiny in the bet365 Challenge Cup and Garfiney Blaze in the George Curtis & Ballyregan Bob Memorial Final, also at Hove – it was the turn of Proper Heiress to complete an unbeaten run through the 515m annual in a fastest time of the event.

Well away, the MWD Partnership-owned September 2022 son of Droopys Sydney and Powerful Mush was soon in pole position and ready to boss proceedings off the front in the company of Droopys Extragud (Heather Dimmock) who was also well away and turned second behind the 11-10 favourite for the £10,000 prize.

It was an order maintained throughout the four bends with Proper Heiress crossing the line a length and a quarter in front of Droopys Extragud in 29.49sec (+10), with Barntick Bear (Patrick Janssens) running on really well in third a length back.

“We couldn’t have asked for more, especially with Keane (Barry) then winning his first round of the PDC at Ally Pally!” said Wallis in reference to daughter Emily’s boyfriend. “Keane had been at Hove the previous night before heading back to London and thankfully he took the winning habit with him.

“Sarah (Wallis) and Daniel were there along with Keane’s family and it was a special night after a special couple of days for all of us at Imperial Kennels.

“Proper Heiress was bought as a Derby dog so Towcester on Saturday was always going to be his next race. They’ve done a great job getting on a high quality card so close to Christmas and Emily will be working with the Gone To The Dogs – Live! team which she’s looking forward to. It should be a great night.”

Dan Wallis, who oversaw Saturday’s runners at Hove along with sister Emily, added: “He’s run really well, as has Garfiney Blaze, and New Destiny winning at Oxford has topped a great for us all but especially Mike (Davis, MWD Partnership).

“He puts so much into greyhound racing so to win these major competitions is us doing our bit I suppose with the top-class runners he buys for the team.”
