Paul Young has breathed fresh life into the title race with a 31-point surge, cutting Maxine Locke’s championship lead from 161 to 145 points. Locke remains in a powerful position on 936, while Young has strengthened second place by opening a 25-point advantage over reigning champion Mark Wallis. Further back, Richie Taberner and Mike Burton were the major movers, collecting 28 and 22 points respectively, while the composition of the top ten remained unchanged.

 

Standout performer

Although the top ten remained unchanged, Paul Young was the biggest mover among the championship contenders. His 31-point gain was more than double the return of title leader Maxine Locke, enabling him to cut the overall deficit to 145 points and strengthen his hold on second place. It was the most significant advancement made by any trainer in the leading group and keeps the Trainer of the Year race alive heading into the final weeks of the campaign.
